Ok, first of all, I agree with the second girl, do invite her single friends. I am getting married in a few weeks and all of my friends and female relatives (and his) will be invited. I have a large family so the will be about 25 or 30 ladies. That's is a lot for a shower, but I didnt want to have multiple showers. Take into consideration how many ladies you will have. If you have a lot like I do, you'll want to stay away from too many shower games. Maybe do something like assign each guest a letter of the alphabet (before they come) and ask them to bring a recipe with letter and a few ingredients. Maybe have them jot down some sort of sentiment or advise for the bride-to-be. If it's a smaller closer group of friends, you could play other games. When it comes to prizes you can always give small spa gifts but a nice idea is to give household gifts that would go to the bride. Small things like utencils or measuring cups. You might even choose to pick those things off of the registry. Try having a theme. It adds some fun, but not too cheesy. Just small classy decorations and try having a sash or corsage for the bride. I would sugguest finger foods and punch with a few sweets for the food. At some point after most (or all) of the guests have arrived go around the room (if everyone doesnt already know each other) and have the guests introduce themselves. Make sure the invitations go out at least 3 weeks before the shower. No later than that.
References :
Look in card stores. You will find booklets of games to play or at least I used to. First of all, relax, do not sweat the small stuff for you need to enjoy this party as well. Prepare everything you can weeks before and have it placed in a safe place all together. Suggestions for snack: pickles, carrots, celery, etc. Use a dip as well. Have sandwiches, if you lie, that are simple to make and do not take up a lot of time. Get others involved to help because they will enjoy the party as well. They used to make bolonga sandwiches which is like chicken salad, just using bologna instead, but you get the idea. If, you would like, just use snack. chips, crackers and cheese, etc. Have guests to write on a piece of paper any suggestions they have for the bride or bride and groom, then have someone read them out loud and see what you will hear. Should be funny what some people will say. We used to take a milk bottle and had to drop clothes pin (not the spring type) into the bottle. The one with the most inside of the bottle won a little prise. Play some kids games, but with a little change in them. such as, pin the tale on the donkey, but instead print up a picture of the bride, groom, or both together large enough and then print up items to dress the bride with, place a clother over people's eyes and have them pin the article on the bride where they can. Odd where the items will end up. Keep it simple and do not play too many games because the main prupose is for the bride to open her presents. Allow people to tell about funny experiences in their marriage. Remember, the main idea is for everyone to relax and enjoy the party encluding you.
References :
I need some more information, is it a couple shower? What is your theme? Lingerie, kitchen, house, traditional.

Here are some websites to get you started. I planned my sister-in-laws bridal shower, and it was a lot of fun. We played three games, had lots of food, and we did a house theme. Our invitation was in the shape of an iron, and in each invitation we had assigned each guest a room of the house. It was cool, but I wouldn't do that again, because a lot of the people who came all had the same room!
If you need more ideas email me and I will answer all questions!
References :
Life experience

^In respnse to person above me, you invite all people that are close to the bride, single or taken. I am single and I have good times at showers.

Dont plan any cheesy games..I went to one where they had every person fill out a card with their name on it and put it in a basket. During the gift opening...a person from the bridal party drew out a name every few minutes and the person drawn won one of like 10 gift baskets that were bought previous to the party. The baskets ranged from flower arrangements to snack baskets to spa goodies...be creative. Have a nice buffet or small meal planned. Assign different girls in the wedding party to do jobs (write down what each person gave, throw away gift wrap, bring gifts to bride-to-be to open, etc), have small wedding favors on each table (you can get these at any party store), make it fun. Easy tip--you can go to www.evite.com for online invitations and they have tons of party ideas too!
