I am having my wedding on captiva island. Does anyone have any color ideas for wedding party, flower types, or any other tips?
It sounds a little plain but I like the color green. Not dark green, like an olive tone, It looks beautiful with white. Make sure you pick a dress that kind of fits the whole beach theme, I hate it when people have their wedding on a beach & it looks like they should be in a ballroom. Im not saying walk down the isle in a non-looking wedding dress but just don't over do it like a 5 foot vail or a big puffy dress with ruffles & a bussle.Your bridsmaids (if any) should follow this rule too & your groom/grooms men should not be it bow ties & tails.
I think you should bring in the beauty of the beach out in your decor, simple things that compliment it like…. An arch but have it covered in green leaves that have a sea weed look with a few flowers speraticlly around it. Just for the seramony
why don't you go barefoot, it looks really nice in beach weddings. Have your flower girl drop little sea shells anstead of flower peddles (the shells im refering to are like the size of you pinky nail).
I hope this helps, when you decide on a few things come back & post them for more feed back. Good luck & congrats on finding that special someone to spend the rest of your life with!!

i dont know about flower types or any of that cause there are so many options.. but for an outside wedding i would go with something that will stick out.. maybe like a pink that is bright and coral looking… or a teal color.. maybe even like a lime green but not too neon looking…
good luck! and congrats!

try sky blue and white. that is a classic for beach weddings. or if you want you colors to stand out, do pink and yellow. there are a lot of flower choices, so just talk to your florist.

Beautiful location!!! I'm from FL West Coast, but live in SE Florida now. Personally, I think the West Coast has a prettier beach & has less wind which is ideal for the wedding, not to mention the beautiful sunset you'll have!
If I were having a beach wedding, I would have to go with bright, tropical colors & flowers. Oranges & pinks, for sure. Flowers I would really want Birds of Paradise, Heliconias & Ginger.

I too am getting married on the beach. My bridesmaids are wearing hot pink dresses with orange sashes from David's Bridal. We're all carrying Calla Lillies in 4 different colors- White, Orange/Coral, Hot Pink, and Lime Green. Long stem bouquets tied up with simple white ribbon. These colors look beautiful together and Calla Lillies are very clean, simple flowers.

aw, congrats
i think orchids r so pretty for weddings. there r also lots of great artificial orchids which r gonna b cheaper and still look extremely real. another benefit to artificials is that u can have them taken care of in advance and they r not affected by the weather. when it is hot and/or windy, cut flowers can suffer. sorry i dont know the names of the orchids, but check these out from yahoo images: http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/images;_ylt=A0S0203wdnJI9PgAvf.JzbkF?p=orchid&y=Search&fr=att-portal&ei=utf-8&js=1&x=wrt
i also really like lilies, especially the stargazers http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/images;_ylt=A0S02075dnJIbd4Ag.mJzbkF?p=lilies&y=Search&fr=att-portal&ei=utf-8&js=1&x=wrt.
for color schemes at a beach wedding, i would suggest natural colors, think driftwood, pale aqua, seashell pinks, look at beachglass to find color combinations. also go to a store that has specialty papers called mulberry paper. a lot of craft and fine art stores will have them. the papers could b used somewhere in the wedding favors. chocolate seashells (the kind that have a marbled look) would b great inside the favors.
oh and for your bouquet, a lot more ppl r opting for a combination of fresh and silk flowers. keeps the cost down while allowing u to splurge on more expensive flowers to b mixed in.
if u will b using real seashells i suggest letting them sit out for a few days. whenever i open a pack of shells it smells like low-tide. not ideal for a wedding lol. u could also spray them w a little febreeze to help it.
i looove helping ppl w wedding idea stuff. i do it with my work a lot. just b sure to not over think every tiny detail. plan well in advance. and don't worry if every little color doesnt exactly match, u have an advantage in that the colors at the beach dont match exactly, but they all harmonize well.
have a wonderful wedding day!

semi formal wedding dress (dessy.com), color scheme would be aqua or blue (to reflect the ocean) for bridal party and your gown could have a sash of the coordinating color. Flowers should be small bouquets (white, aqua, green leaves), and don't wear a veil..wear flowers in your hair. Groom could wear a linen suit.
