Why dont you have a BAR B Q
    Its very different….
Look at the replies from the men….. (dirty boys)
Just remeber the days all about you and not to please or impress other people…..
Think of that and you'll think of somthing.

Make your own table decorations, print your own invitations, hire your lighting, dj etc independantly from where you are having your wedding as they put a huge mark up on! Maybe limit your choice of meals to one meat choice and one veggie, saves money with caterers.

Why have I got a thumbs down for this grrr??!!

Hire the dress. Only invite people you like. Hey its your day don`t be pressured to invite and pay for people you do not like.

do everything you can yourself. hit the dollar stores! you can find great candles and candle holders at dollar stores and make your own centerpieces. cutting back on flowers is a huge saver! also what about your photographer? are you taking pictures in multiple locations? if you're willing to cut the places you take pictures then you might not need the photographer as long and can cut there.

Do a check list. Look a the cost so far and then thinking about reducing. If you are buying a dress you could think about hiring. Downgrade your car, go for cheap flowers (that look nice). There's so many things you could do. I tire of people (not you) who feel they have to have a showy wedding that in a lot of cases result in a short lived marriage.

i'm doing this same research, so i'm right there with ya, sister!

one way i thought was creative… once you decide where you are going to get married, whether in a church or a hall or what have you, ask the coordinator or parish priest at the location if you could have the contact information for the wedding taking place before yours. maybe you and that bride could go half on decorations if you have similar color schemes! you both win! :)

another way i'm considering is to get married in a beautiful garden or arboretum on a college campus (where i met my fiancee, hehe…). the rates for reserving the space are very reasonable, and you save money by not having to buy flowers if the whole place is blooming when you tie the knot!

good luck and god bless! :)

If at all possible try keeping your wedding small. No sense in going broke over a wedding because then it will cause problems in your marriage. A wedding is just one day, yes an important day but just one. Go simple. Get married at a park if the weather is right. Have a reception bar b q. Keep in mind that the weekends are more expensive days to get married so get married in the middle of the week. Do it early and have a reception breakfast or brunch. Then you still have the rest of the day to party. Dont go to Bella Phototgraphy or expensive places like that, look for locals that freelance. I got lucky my boss is a photographer. I hope that helps some

Ok so there are alot of things that you can do they are just more time consuming. For instance buying your own table cloths at a value market, instead of the ones they provide for a hundred bucks more or what not, you can be surprised sometimes at the nice things you can find. Try finding a nice home within you friends and family that you can have the wedding at. Ebay it up, look for anything and everything on ebay! Make your own veil, it's not as hard as it sounds I promise. My grandmother and I made mine because we couldn't find the kind that I wanted. Congratulations! I hope I was some help to you.

Hire a dress unless your lucky to find one for £200 like me.
only invite who you really want to be there to keep the food bill down.
go for a buffet instead of a sit down.
it was cheaper for the church to do the flowers, it may be the same for a registry office.
if you have little bridesmaids have pretty dresses instead of bridesmaid dresses they will only wear once. you can get some really nice ones in the silliest of places ie Asda & Tescos. and good luck. keep it simple and there is less to go wrong.

I asked all mine and my hubbies family and friends to help chip in with the wedding costs instead of getting us pressies (who needs 6 toasters and bath mats hehe!). Mum in law paid for photographer, dad in law paid for a small reception and meal, my best mate paid for two nights in hotel in nottingham (our honeymoon), my sisters put money together for wedding ring and lent me a veil, my mum paid for the flowers and hire of dress etc etc….
It was fantastic, it was at registry office and it was great everyone chipped in!
Best wedding I could have hoped for!
    Hope this helps!

You already have the love of your life, your familly, and friends, and so far they havent cost you a cent. Have the wedding at a band rotunda in a park of a nearby historic town. See if you can hire a great old run down hall, or have the reception in the back yard of someones home or farm with a local restuarant catering a single choice of meals, with soft drink only supplied. Friends cars for the wedding vehicles. Friends taking pictures with digital cameras - crop and enlarge the ones you like for a home made nice album. Hire the suits. Get you mum or a friend to make the dress.

Many hobby stores such as Micheal's and Hobby Lobby have nice invitations that look professionally made. All you need to do is add a ribbon or something like that. Also Target has invitations for showers and such that you might need. Look for a dress at a consignment shop or through the newspaper. many wedding dresses are for sale simply because the wedding was called off and they have never been worn. You can always elope to a location like the Bahamas or a cruise where your honeymoon and wedding are all in one. If not, decorate the church or hall you are using yourself with some friends. make your own decorations and center pieces. Sam's Club has a wonderful assortment of finger foods such as mini quiches and spinach rolls. Make your own punch and forgo the alcohol. You can use ginger ale and sherbet or pineapple juice and sherbet. If you use bird seed get a huge bag at Walmart and make your own bags with tulle and ribbon. Never be too good to borrow or use something that was your friends, mothers or grandmothers. If you have a friend with a love of flowers see if you can get flowers out of their garden for your bouquet and your brides maids bouquets. Ferns make good greenery and Ficus trees do too. Good Luck and don't let it stress you.

Yeah simple, get married abroad, just invite close friends and family. why pay 1000's of pounds on a wedding that will end up being the price of a nice car!
That's what we did, My hubby and I went to to the Caribbean and it cost us for 2 weeks in 3 rented villas with swimming pools including our family's and close friends just under 15,000!!

That was the wedding in a beautiful tropical garden, with a magnificent Buffet, wedding cake and allot of champagne and a photographer. The local 5 star hotel organised it for us with the wedding night in their amazing honeymoon suite!

It was the best thing we did and saved a fortune. It takes a bit of organising but not half as much of a headache as what it would have been back home…

It was a hell of allot cheaper than what the costs of doing it at home were, which was stacking up to nearly 25,000, for all the guests, hotel etc.We also had all our best friends and family's around which made for a great holiday also.

Plus we had the honeymoon for 2 fabulous weeks in the sun, you can't beat that…

I'm also doing this on a budget and am using Ebay for things like decorations (fairy lights, candles, favour boxes, feathers) and am keeping it very simple, very low key and small numbers, our friend is making us a BBQ lunch and we are making our own scroll invites, again I found those on Ebay. I am having cup cakes instead of a normal wedding cake as they work out at about 90p each from the bakery, so my cake is costing me less than £40 which is a bargain, and we're not bothering with things like a band (my brother in law is gonna do the music on his PC and just play through a sound system) if you keep it small and simple you can still be elegant etc and it doesn't have to look like a cheap event.

Go to the registry office, don't buy a stupid white dress, have very few guests, don't have all the unnecessary 'wedding industry' crap like favours, caterers, flowers, posh cars, big party etc.
Then you can do it for less than £150.
Please don't do what a previous poster suggested and ask and expect your family to pay for it. That's shocking.

    1) get married in the week not at the weekend (cars /rooms etc tend to come cheaper.) We got married on my birthday which was a Monday/
    2) Do not have an evening do.
    3) Only invite familyand close friends. plus a couple of close work friends.
    4) Make your own wedding cake - look for a specialist to ice it.

Chicken and veggie entrees only……steak is harder to do anyways, it's more exp and NO one wants it the same way as the person sitting next to them. The biggest cost saver is a no host bar. Your friends should understand (we are paying for our own wedding, so we're doing beer and wine only, they can purchase the other stuff themselves).

Iam getting married this year and have also been trying to keep to a tight budget. Only close friends and family are attending all day this cuts down on dinner costs etc. I have also bought invitations in the sales and hand written them, iam also getting my cake from marks and spencer and hiring a cake stand this is a much cheaper method than getting a cake made and saves a lot of money, Hope this helps

A limo is something that can be e-limo-nated. Receptions are
cool but a lot of cash can go down the drain for booze (do you
really want/need it ? —it is YOUR honeymoon after — better
sober ?) — Do you need a dinner or maybe family will help
out with a lite luncheon — band, d.j. do you need either ?
weddings don't have to be the thing that starts a marriage
off in bad financial straights — unfortunately, they often do.
