Buying a diamond is one of the most important purchases that you will make in your life, whether it is an engagement ring, wedding ring, loose diamond or jewelry for a loved one it is extremely important to put lots of thought into your purchase. Here are some tips on buying diamonds that will make sure you find the diamond that you want at a fair price.

It is important to educate yourself on diamonds before ever stepping into a retail store. Learning about diamonds is the biggest advantage that you can have in the buying process. Not only will being educated about diamonds help you get a fair price and understand if the diamond is a good value, but knowing about diamonds will help you choose a diamond more to your liking.

Start off learning the basics including the 5 C’s which are carat, cut, color, clarity, and cost. These are truly the main foundation of good diamond knowledge. Since most consumers already know about the 5C’s which are usually covered extensively, here are some tips on learning about the actual buying process in a retail or wholesale diamond environment.

As in any industry, there are good establishments and bad establishments. While at the retail level fraud is rare, you might find people that are willing to take advantage of a situation. A good retailer will try to help you find the diamond that is right for you. A good retailer will also take their time with you and ask you lots of questions.

Be aware of retailers that will immediately try to up-sell you on a diamond. They might not be interested in what you would like and automatically try to persuade you that a specific diamond is the diamond that you should look for. Beware of these types of retailers; they may be trying to get rid of hard to sell diamonds due to quality issues. A good retailer will also help educate you on what is a good diamond and the various traits of a diamond that are beneficial or decrease its value.

When buying a diamond from a retailer it is also important that they disclose everything about the diamond, that they tell you what is guaranteed and what services are included. A shady retailer will usually give you as little information as possible, will not write anything down and will just nod his or her head saying, don’t worry, everything is good.

If you want to find a reputable diamond dealer contact organizations such as the Better Business Bureau to see if a retailer has had complaints in the past, there are also diamond organizations that can point you in the right direction such as GIA (Gemological Institute of America) and American Gem Trade Association.

Once you find a good retailer and choose a stone, before purchasing it, ask to get it appraised by an independent appraiser. If the retailer says absolutely not, walk away from the sale. One of the strongest advantages that you have is having the stone independently appraised. A good retailer will give you the stone for it to be appraised by anyone you would like. You can have it appraised to see if the clarity, carat and color match what the retailer stated, and also to find out if there are any treatments such as fracture filling or color treatments that would decrease the value of the stone.

It is important for you as a consumer to exercise your preference to have the stone independently appraised. Some retailers will demand that you have it appraised by a certain appraiser. This should not be acceptable; you should be able to bring it to any appraiser that you would like.

Not only will an appraiser help you determine the quality of the stone, but will usually give you a dollar value for the stone. Some appraisers will give you both a retail and wholesale value for the stone (Retail prices are usually higher than the wholesale cost). Armed with this information will help you determine if you are getting a good deal on the stone or paying top dollar. This information will help you if you need to negotiate a fair price with the retailer.

Buying a diamond is one of the most important decisions in your life, so make sure you put lots of thought into the purchase and protect yourself using your diamond knowledge, independent appraisal and consumer organizations. Purchase your diamond the right way and you and your loved one will enjoy the diamond for many years to come.

So you are going to get married to the love of your life and you want to write a beautiful, simple wedding vow for your ceremony, because you know the memory of those deep, heartfelt words will last for a lifetime.

These days you don’t have to use the same traditional vows that you have heard a hundred times. It’s becoming more and more common for couples to write their own unique yet simple wedding vows.

Here are 3 tips to help you write your own romantic and memorable wedding vows…

Tip #1: Don’t Try to Impress People

Some people try to write a wedding vow that is impressive and mouthful. They feel this will make their wedding ceremony more special. But the truth is that it’s completely the opposite.

It will just make your words sound insincere and faked, so your wedding vow won’t have any impact on your loved one, or even the guests.

So what should you do?

Simply speak from your heart. It doesn’t matter if you use very simple words that you speak in your day to day conversation. It’s the feeling in those words that matters. Because “what comes from the heart, reaches the heart.”

OK, this brings us to the next idea…

Tip #2: Just Close Your Eyes and Speak from Your Heart

Here’s a great way to write a hearty romantic wedding vow easily: Go to a peaceful place so that your mind slows down and is relaxed.

Then close your eyes and imagine that your partner is standing in front of you smiling at you.

Look into his/her eyes and remember the beautiful memories you’ve had together. All those days that you laughed and cried together. Feel how much you love him/her with all your heart.

Then, as your eyes are still closed and you still see your loved one in front of you, ask yourself what you like to tell him/her right now… at this very moment?

No one else is here. Just you and him/her. So tell him/her whatever your heart desires.

When you try this, you’ll find yourself expressing your feelings in a very deep and heartfelt way. These words will make the perfect wedding vow for your wedding.

These are the words that your partner will remember and cherish for the rest of his/her life.

Tip #3: Read Some Romantic Wedding Poems

Another great way to get your creative, romantic juices flowing is to read beautiful wedding love poems.

After reading only a few poems, you’ll get inspired from their deep, romantic language and will find yourself coming up with beautiful sentences that will be perfect for your wedding vow.

You even may get so inspired that you find yourself writing your own unique poem that you can use as your wedding vow!

Well, there you have it. Just try these 3 tips and you will be amazed by the results.

Wish you a wonderful wedding and a beautiful life ahead,

Ladan Lashkari

Every bride to be starts with an inspiration or thought as to how their wedding can be not only beautiful, but unique. Inspiration may be found in day to day activities, magazines, hobbies, or even romance novels or fairtales.

To help out brides along, we’ll be publishing great wedding ceremony and wedding reception ideas to help inspire you to create the wedding of your dreams - whether you just needed a few new tips or find yourself loving one of our complete wedding themes and just need to make it yours.

One of our all time favorites is the Cinderella Fairytale Wedding. Read on to see how one bride made her fairytale come true.

A Cinderella Fairytale Wedding

A pure white dress, flowing down to the floor, a train of endless length following gracefully behind, the veil placed strategically under a crown fit for a queen. This is our Princess, and this is her fairytale wedding.

Just imagine walking into a ballroom draped in exquisite gold fabrics and a red carpet leading down to two thrones in the middle. Gold and silver chairs on both sides of the long red carpet. The carpet comes to an end at three steps leading up to a platform of gold and white, two tall thrones, decorated in jewels and dark colored cushions, sitting side-by-side, the prince standing before the left throne. A grand organ in the back right corner of the ballroom plays the wedding theme as the princess makes her way down the carpet, her long train following behind.

She is wearing a flowing gown, a long veil, a gold crown on top of the veil. She is simple, yet elegant, with a gold necklace around her neck, decorated with a charm, or maybe she prefers a stunning Victorian inspired pearl necklace set. The dress is white, maybe with a gold trim, white strapped heels decorate her feet. A gorgeous bouquet of white roses (bridal white signifies happy love), a small gold ribbon keeps these roses bundled together.

The bridesmaids to the right are dressed in light colored Victorian ball gowns, long gloves matching their gowns, and each one is holding a single yellow rose in their hand (a yellow rose means “I care”, and signifies friendship), the groomsmen to the left in white gloves and tuxes, all standing in front of the platform, but not blocking the stairs up. Victorian style jewelry would be perfect for these gorgeous bridesmaids. The prince is dressed in a tux as well, with white gloves on, but unlike his groomsmen, he has one white rose pinned to the front of his tux.

The couple give their final kiss, and turn to their audience. As the ceremony comes to a close, the couple walk side by side down the long red carpet, white rice being tossed into the air, not at our couple, and they go outside to be greeted by two white horses, and a round white carriage. The couple ride off in this Cinderella style carriage.

For the after party of the happy couple, the fairytale can be carried over to the wedding reception. The room can be costumed in a Victorian ball style; gold, deep red, and white would be the ideal colors. The tables can be draped in deep red cloth with gold trim, white plates on top, a bouquet of white and red roses (these two colors combined symbolize unity) in gold vases in the center of each table.

The tables all surround a dance floor in the middle of the room, white and red rose petals scattered across, this will be where the couple shall share their first dance as a married couple and it should be special. A small stage beside the dance floor would be perfect for a small band.

Most importantly, the couple, as well as their guests, should enjoy themselves, so dance the night away! Don’t forget to thank your guests with Fairytale Wedding Favors so they’ll always remember your happily every after fairytale wedding.

I'm planning my own wedding for Sept. 2009 and I would like some tips. Advice from those married in Georgia are greatly appreciated - I'm looking for a venue to host both ceremony and reception. I have decided to have a small, informal wedding, about 50 people, considering a Friday evening. Any thoughts would help.

Thanks!
We were both born in Atlanta, but currently live in the Clayton County area, so we would like to find a venue in Fulton or Clayton county.

Here are some places I found quickly online:

Maid of honors are usually the person closest to the bride’s heart. It could be her best friend or her younger sister. It is a person who could know a lot of things about the bride that even her parents don’t know about. A maid of honor is also one of the people in the wedding that would definitely have the chance to speak during the wedding reception and give her best wishes to the newlyweds. A lot of maid of honors commit the mistake of going to the wedding reception unprepared. Thus, messing up during the delivery of a toast or speech. Because of this mistake, you missed your chance to be able to show what makes you the maid of honor of the bride.

There are lots of ways to be able to give a memorable toast to the bride. Being a maid of honor is a privilege and you should not miss the chance on giving out your best during this important celebration. It is your responsibility to give a wonderful toast for the bride. There are a few ways to be able to express your toast in a form of a speech. After all, your elder sister or best friend will be wed only once and you should not miss the chance to make your participation memorable.

First, choose a story, preferably funny, that you can share with the guests. It could be a story during childhood, embarrassing moment, how you became close friends or a certain incident wherein the bride played an important part of your life. You may use this story as your opening remark and you can expound from this. Do not add additional stories because one story would be enough for a speech.

Second, give the groom a few hints about what are the likes and dislikes of the bride. You are the most likely person that would know the bride very well. Since they are newlyweds, there could be some characteristics of the bride that the groom does not know about. Share some of these as tips but choose only a few.

Third, give them your wishes and a piece of advice to be able to have a successful marriage. You can share something spiritual that they could ponder on and use as a foundation for their marriage.

Last, be sure to bring a tissue or handkerchief with you during your speech. Marriage is a mixture of fun and sadness and because of this, a lot of people cry during speech delivery. It is better to come prepared for the tears rather than wiping with your hands. You might deliver a good speech but get a smeared makeup after.
